Chronic Migraine Awareness would like to thank Melissa Bearden for sharing.
Myth: Migraine attacks only last for a few hours or a day or two.
Truth: A migraine attack can last any amount of time. Yes, even for years! I’m chronic intractable and have had one non-stop, constant 24/7 migraine attack for 23 years. Before this attack started when I was 18 and a freshman in college, I was episodic. I would have migraine attacks that lasted several hours or a day or so every so often. They were pretty well managed from ages 2-18 with meds, supplements and other treatments. When I was 18, this 23 year attack started and it’s never ended.
Action: Be there for the people in your life with migraine. No matter how often they get an attack, they need support, care, understanding, encouragement and love shown to them. People with migraine carry around a lot of guilt for all the things they can’t do while in the midst of an attack.
