RetreatMigraine 2023; Sharon’s Experience

Chronic Migraine Awareness, Inc. would like to thank Sharon for sharing her experience with us.

I attended RetreatMigraine 2023 which was held in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was absolutely amazing! The inspiration I receive there helps me learn how to take care of myself, so that then I can help others with this invisible neurological disease called migraine. Also, we learn what medications are new to the market for migraine disease to help us. We also are educated on how to communicate with insurance companies and doctors to advocate for ourselves. I love how every time I attend RetreatMigraine it is an education for me and others. Making all new friendships and showing all of us that we are not alone is the best benefit for being there in person.

I am a Chronic Migraine patient for over 35 years and have been an advocate for over six years. My advocacy includes running a support group through Miles For Migraine, caretaking, sending out support cards, Chronic Migraine Awareness (CMA), Headache on the Hill, CHAMP and more. I also advocate to the schools for children living with migraine disease.

Having this invisible neurological disease is very hard, but having all the knowledge and tools to help myself and help others inspires me. Fortunately, the new CGRP injections have lessened my migraine attacks by 50%. On a personal note, I absolutely appreciate receiving all the donations from all the companies, and pharmaceutical companies is just wonderful.
